Mike Mignola’s legendary Hellboy character is enjoying a pop-culture resurgence this year with both a miniatures-based tabletop game and a new major motion picture coming out in the next two months.
After launching Hellboy: The Board Game (paid link) with a very successful Kickstarter campaign last year, Mantic Games is now offering it to the rest of the world, with a scheduled release date of March 29, 2019 (according to Amazon).
Then on April 12, 2019, Stranger Things actor David Harbour steps into Big Red’s cloven hooves for the latest Hellboy flick, which also stars Resident Evil’s Milla Jovovich as Nimue the Blood Queen. Sounds like the perfect date-night movie.
So if you’re both a Hellboy fan and a tabletop gaming enthusiast, you might be saving your nickels right now for a copy of the Hellboy board game, a few Hellboy movie tickets and of course some requisite Hellboy collectibles. If that’s indeed the case, let us clue you in on some very inexpensive Hellboy tabletop gaming miniatures from 2003 and 2007.
We’re talking about, of course, the 2003 Indy HeroClix (paid link) line of collectable miniatures from WizKids, and the 2007 Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Seven-Figure Action Pack, which is compatible with both the WizKids HeroClix and HorrorClix tabletop gaming systems.
These pre-painted plastic figure collections are still available in brand-new, unopened boxes, but since they’re over a decade old you can usually pick them up at clearance-bin prices online.
Check out the video above for a closer look at the 2003 and 2007 Hellboy figures from WizKids. Depending on your preference, these discount plastic minis could be either inexpensive Hellboy collectibles or a budget friendly way to incorporate Hellboy into your next RPG adventure or tabletop wargame.
