Ork and Astra Militarum Kill Team Starter Sets

In our last video we unboxed both the 2016 and 2018 versions of Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team, the game of brutal skirmish combat in the 41st millennium. This time around we’re unboxing two new Kill Team expansion boxes, the Krogskull’s Boyz Ork Starter Set (paid link) and the Drop Force Imperator Astra Militarum Starter Set (paid link).

Games Workshop also currently offers The Writhing Shadow Tyranids Starter Set and the Fangs of Ulfrich Adeptus Astartes Starter Set, but we opted for the Orks and Tempestus Scion sets for one simple reason: We already had a few of those minis lying around. Not enough troops for an army, mind you, but certainly enough to form some respectable Kill Teams.

For example, we have two lonely boxes of GW Ork plastics that a friend gave us a couple of years ago. I suppose I could have assembled the greenskins, but then that would mean just having to go out and buy a lot more Orks.

On the Astra Militarum side, I somehow held onto a squad of second or third edition Imperial Guard Stormtroopers, complete with Hotshot Lasguns and their trademark berets. Truthfully these old plastic Stormtroopers are a little boring — they’re all molded in the same pose — but after being in storage all these years, they’re probably anxious for deployment.

The current Ork and Astra Militarum Starter Sets each contain a complete Kill Team as well as some eye-catching terrain pieces, making these box sets a pretty good deal for the money. The Ork terrain is a couple of very industrial looking Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers, while the Astra Militarum box includes two Munitorum Armored Containers, six Promethium Barrels and eight Supply Crates.

Each box set also includes an assortment of tokens, booklets and cards, including some exclusive tactics cards that don’t come with the main Kill Team Starter Set. To see all the loot inside these brand new Kill Team expansions, just click on the video player above.
